IO1: P+ Curriculum
- that training parents on how to manage their child with ASD’s challenging behaviour and on how to teach them important life skills can have a tremendous effect on both the child and the whole family,
- that the adult trainers feel incompetent to teach parents how to best support their children with autism, how to improve their behaviours and teach them important skills, because they do not have the appropriate professional training to do that,
- the absence of comprehensive training curricula that will focus on an autism parent-training including both strategies to reduce challenging behaviours and strategies to teach children new skills.
IO2: P+ trainer Manual
This intellectual output will be in charge of SC PSIHOFORWORLD. The purpose of the Manual is to assist trainers’ practical application of the newly developed curriculum and put theory into practice. The manual will take trainers through a step-by-step process of planning, organising and delivering an effective training course. It will offer concrete suggestions and guidelines to them for enhancing their knowledge and competencies while simultaneously engaging them in a substantive discussion on various concepts, theories, and issues related to autism parent training.
Manual is there to assist trainers in applying the activities in the correct manner, in the form of lesson plans, and to avoid confusion. It will bring together all interrelated aspects ofthe learning process, recognising the importance of general situations that an educator has to handle in the delivery of their training course and identifying new situations and issues that call for action by them.
IO3: P+ Parent’s guide
The guide will be developed by STANDO LTD and it will contain tips and strategies for parents to use in order to support their children with ASD at home and in the community and improve their behaviour and lives. It will be based on the content of IO1 and IO2 and will be the practical part with hands-on tips and strategies to apply based on the theory (IO1+IO2) and what was learned during the training (C2).
IO4: P+ App
- A token economy system,
- Games for different levels (with the option to be used as rewards in the token economy),
- Suggested skills tracking list (with the option to add more skills),
- Data collection system (for parents to keep track of their child’s progress).
The App will also include games that will be locked and would be unlocked and used as a reward after all the tokens have been collected.
The innovation of the app lies in the fact that it can be a home-tool for parents of children with autism to use at any time to teach new skills and/or manage any behaviours that challenge. It can be easily adjusted to each child’s level and interests.
IO5: E-learning platform
It will be developed by CENTRO INTERNAZIONALE PER LA PROMOZIONE DELL’EDUCAZIONE E LO SVILUPPO ASSOCIAZIONE. The e-learning platform is an innovative way to engage distant learners into the training procedure. Its users will have the possibility to find among others courses and timetables, lecture materials, best practices, situational reports, social functionalities (forums, etc.). Furthermore, innovative training material will be produced and be converted in a harmonised format to facilitate the acquisition of the appropriate knowledge.
It is expected to train a number of parents of children with autism and other interested parties, as a pilot-testing process, by using the platform and its content based on the learning objectives of the project, to build up the users’ intention and perception to technology as well as to foster the quality of adult learning and education via assisting them to improve their learning, knowledge, and skills, and by using technology to motivate the users to learn e-Learning environments when interactively engaged. The e-Learning platform will be designed and presented appropriately so as to be also a valuable educational resource on its own, ready to use not only by the adult trainers and parents but also independently in other relevant contexts.
